“The Shanghai Circle” by Tony Henderson is a captivating and suspenseful tale set in 1930s Shanghai, China. The story delves into the intertwining lives of a young taipan, a triad leader, and a Russian character as they grapple with the impending Japanese invasion, prompting their relocation to Hong Kong.
The book follows Irina as she gets involved with the Guest family, a strong British family in charge of trade, and Joseph Cheung, who’s set to lead the Sung Society, a powerful group in the criminal world. As the danger from Japan gets closer to Shanghai, Irina has to figure out how to stay safe in this dangerous setting.

The story is packed with suspense and mystery, making it a page-turner for those who enjoy thrilling plots.
