As regards the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong from 1941 to 1945 my research material was widespread but I relied very heavily on two excellent books which recount the history of Hong Kong during 1941–45:
The Battle for Hong Kong by Oliver Lindsay
The Fall of Hong Kong by Philip Snow
Jean Gittens wrote Stanley: Behind Barbed Wire which gave me an insight into life for the expatriates interred in this little town.
While I wish I had found this book before I wrote my novel – Hong Kong Internment 1942-1945 by Geoffrey Charles Emerson.
The Gwulo site remains a firm favourite for photos, and as usual thanks to Autocrit software which helps my editing and now also another product, Grammarly software which is excellent. Thanks to cover designer Bradley Wind, and web designers cannedsunlight. Then in late 2022, TLC Book Design picked up my three novels and began to lead me into publishing them professionally rather than just as amateur e-books, which I issued ten years ago.
